Dr. Sarafudin Abdul Syahid Sowell is the Managing Partner of MASFI Law, with principal areas in corporate structuring, commercial transactions, governance advisory, and Islamic finance documentation. He advises corporations, public institutions, and non-profit organisations on legal and governance frameworks, strategic structuring, and complex commercial arrangements across a broad range of industries.

His practice encompasses advisory work relating to joint ventures, corporate restructuring, shareholder arrangements, and regulatory compliance. He is also experienced in structuring and documenting Shariah-compliant financing and social finance transactions, including ijarah, commodity murabahah, waqf, and other Islamic finance structures developed in collaboration with religious authorities, institutional stakeholders, and industry participants. His advisory approach combines legal, regulatory, governance, and Shariah considerations to develop commercially practical and sustainable solutions.

Dr. Sarafudin has been involved in various business acquisition and investment exercises, including conducting legal due diligence, advising on regulatory and compliance matters, and preparing key transactional documents such as Share Sale Agreements, Shareholders' Agreements, Joint Venture Agreements, and related corporate documentation.

Prior to establishing MASFI Law, he served in several legal and institutional capacities, including with Messrs Azmi & Associates for pupillage, the University of Malaya, INCEIF University, and ISRA Consulting Sdn Bhd, where he was involved in matters relating to Islamic finance.

He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Law from the International Islamic University Malaysia and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2013.
